Intellectual property owners and practitioners alike have cited African countries as home to big infringers. Nigeria, in particular, is viewed as harbouring the majority of fake products that appear in the African continent. Several reasons have been proffered for this state of affairs from ranging lack of political will to sheer indifference of the effect that counterfeiting can have on attracting foreign investment and stimulating international trade.
