Katie Degendorfer

Katie was a research fellow with Professor Oguamanam from September 2015 to August 2017, and was particularly involved with research on Africa through the Open AIR network. In 2017, Katie received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law.
Katie also holds a B.A. (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Toronto. During her studies in Toronto, Katie worked as a research student for Professor Elisabeth King, assisting in the research and editing of King’s book on education in Rwanda. Katie has also travelled to Kenya and Kosovo to do research on post-conflict education and peacebuilding.
After completing her B.A., Katie worked as an independent contractor for Innovations for Poverty Action and New York University on a cross-national qualitative study focused on understanding youth aspirations for education and life in Kenya and Pakistan. In 2015, before joining Open AIR, Katie worked for a criminal defence law firm in Toronto.
